Where can I Spread Bet on Shares Markets?

Spread betting shares is one of the first places new investors begin. This is likely because spread betting on shares is easily understood. A spread bettor will choose a spread betting firm based on the shares.

Each country and company has its own shares available for trading. Not every company offers spreads on all the shares on exchanges. One reason for this is that spread betting in the US is illegal.

Therefore, brokerage firms in the US do not offer spread bets. However, UK based betting firms offer spreads on UK and US shares. Many European countries have firms but not all offer foreign shares.

What Shares are Offered

Many UK based companies offer spreads on the major European shares. These shares include the FTSE 100, FTSE 250, the DAX 30, and CAC 40. The Irish and European shares are included as spreads to trade.

These instrument shares are a compilation of other instruments. The number next to the share name signifies the amount of companies. Most spread betting firms offer spread betting on all the shares.

To place spreads on US shares, the choice of betting firms is limited. IG Index and GFT is different and offer spreads on all the US shares. Other spread betting firms limit the choices in US shares offered.

Two betting firms offer spreads on some US shares, but not all. These two betting firms are Financial Spreads and Capital Spreads. Spread betting firms have to remain competitive in the shares offered.

Spread Betting Firms for Trading Shares Worldwide

To trade world shares, the choice of firms is even more restricted. Very few spread companies offer full access to world shares. Financial Spreads comes the closest to offering these shares.

They offer some shares from Australia, India, and South Africa. IG Index offers spreads on all the world shares except from India. Spreadex does not offer any spreads on any of the world shares.

City Index excludes shares from both India and South America. None of these shares can be traded on their trading platform. Different reasons exist for why shares are offered and others are not.

There are quite a few choices when choosing where to spread bet. Many companies offer spreads on a variety of trading shares. The world shares are where the choices become a bit limited.
